The “First House” exhibition at the Grand Mosque in Makkah offers a profound journey into the history of the Kaaba during the Hajj season 1446H (2025). Organized by the General Authority for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque, this exhibition is located in the Third Saudi Expansion, directly opposite Gate 100 (King Abdullah Gate). It is open daily from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. throughout the Hajj period, welcoming pilgrims and visitors from all backgrounds and languages.

This exhibition serves as a unique cultural and educational experience, designed to deepen pilgrims’ spiritual connection by tracing the sacred site’s evolution from the time of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) to the present day. Visitors explore the Kaaba’s construction, architectural changes, and maintenance techniques through interactive digital displays, motion graphics, touchscreens, and historical artifacts. The exhibition also highlights the intricate process of producing the Kiswa, the ornate cloth that covers the Kaaba, showcasing the craftsmanship and tools used in its annual renewal.

A centerpiece of this exhibition is the use of modern technology combined with historical authenticity, allowing visitors to engage with the Kaaba’s story in an immersive way. The content is available in multiple languages, enhancing accessibility and enriching the understanding of millions of Muslims who gather for Hajj each year.

The “First House” exhibition aligns with Saudi Arabia’s broader objectives to elevate the spiritual and cultural experiences of pilgrims, reflecting the Kingdom’s custodianship of the Two Holy Mosques. This initiative complements larger efforts under Saudi Vision 2030 to promote Islamic heritage, educate pilgrims, and share the significance of the Kaaba with the global Muslim community.

As millions perform Hajj in 2025, this exhibition stands as a testament to the enduring legacy of the Kaaba—the House of Allah—illuminating its history, spirit, and central role in Islam. It invites all visitors to step into a profound narrative of faith, tradition, and devotion at the heart of the Islamic world.
