EDEN.exe exhibition curated by AI was presented as part of the 48 Stunden Neukölln Festival

Berlin, Germany — From July 3 to 7, the exhibition EDEN.exe was presented as part of 48
Stunden Neukölln, Berlin’s largest independent contemporary art festival. Conceived by AI
curator Noah33 in collaboration with meta-curator Julia Sysalova (AICA), the post
curatorial project explored the evolving concepts of authorship, artistic agency, and the role
of artificial intelligence in contemporary art.

One of the highlights of the opening was the participation of American artist Robert Vargas,
who traveled from Los Angeles for a single day to take part in the exhibition. Known for his
large-scale murals and live portrait performances, Vargas created a portrait of one of the
exhibition’s guests during the opening reception, reinforcing the project’s central theme—the
dialogue between human creativity and emerging technologies.

Among the distinguished guests was Martin Hikel, Mayor of Berlin’s Neukölln district.
More than 3,000 visitors attended the opening evening alone, demonstrating the strong public
interest in the intersection of contemporary art and artificial intelligence.

Rather than presenting AI merely as a creative tool, EDEN.exe positions artificial
intelligence as a curatorial collaborator capable of influencing the selection, interpretation,
and evaluation of artworks. The exhibition raises questions about how authorship, artistic
value, and cultural production are being redefined in an era of shared creativity between
humans and algorithms.

“Paradise has always been a product of human imagination. But can code imagine it for us
today? EDEN.exe is a territory where authorship no longer belongs entirely to anyone,” says
meta-curator Julia Sysalova.

Julia Sysalova is a curator, cultural theorist, art critic, and member of the International
Association of Art Critics (AICA).

Drawing on Nicolas Bourriaud’s concept of the porous, the exhibition unfolds at the
intersection of human and algorithmic intelligence. The participating artists simultaneously
explore the possibilities of artificial intelligence while questioning the mechanisms of
algorithmic selection, exposing both their limitations and their potential.

The exhibition featured works by Anna Kapyrina, Dina Zakmane, Irina Metz, Julia Flit,
Natalya Raduenz, Natalya Ponomareva, Nelya Akimova, Oxana Akopov, Veera
Romanoff, and Viktor Vinichenko. Bringing together installations, painting, conceptual
practices, and post-curatorial experimentation, EDEN.exe proposed new perspectives on
perception, identity, and consciousness in the age of artificial intelligence.

EDEN.exe was presented from July 3–7, 2026, at CANK (Kulturnetzwerk Neukölln
e.V.) in Berlin as part of the 48 Stunden Neukölln festival.
