Dubai Culture Concludes ‘Al Marmoom: The Living Wild’ Exhibition Showcasing Nature and Art

Dubai Culture and Arts Authority has successfully concluded ‘Al Marmoom: The Living Wild’, an exhibition held in collaboration with Ali Khalifa bin Thalith, Secretary-General of the Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum International Photography Award. The exhibition placed the spotlight on the Al Marmoom Desert Conservation Reserve, underlining its natural landscape and biodiversity as vital components of the region’s environment and cultural heritage.

The innovative event also introduced a virtual edition of the exhibition, which will remain accessible until 18th March. This virtual experience allows audiences to engage with the showcased photographs and interactive content, enhanced with augmented reality technology.

Over a span of 10 days, the exhibition drew more than 10,000 visitors and featured 24 photographs documenting various species of animals and birds native to the reserve. Attendees enjoyed augmented reality experiences tailored to deepen engagement and deliver educational insights into the unique wildlife of Al Marmoom.

As part of the initiative, Dubai Culture honoured the winners of the ‘Al Marmoom: The Living Wild’ competition. The contest was designed to motivate local residents and visitors to interact with the creative photographs and videos on display. Hazel Arnold secured first place, followed by Nayef Alhosani in second, and Yousaf Hussain in third.

Shaima Rashed Al Suwaidi, CEO of Arts, Design and Literature Sector at Dubai Culture, stated that the exhibition presented a unique model that brings together art and the environment, encouraging visitors to explore and reflect on the intricacies of nature, while fostering a sense of responsibility towards protecting ecosystems.

A notable feature of the exhibition was the opportunity for visitors to explore the reserve from their private vehicles, offering an immersive cultural experience within the natural setting. This innovative approach provided attendees with a distinctive and accessible way to connect with the treasures of Al Marmoom.
