Dubai Culture Unveils Striking Murals in Al Quoz Creative Zone
Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) has unveiled two new, striking murals in the Al Quoz Creative Zone as part of the ambitious Dubai Public Art Strategy. This creative initiative is transforming Dubai’s public spaces into a vibrant open-air art gallery, helping the emirate strengthen its reputation as a global centre for culture, an incubator for creativity, and a hub for talent.
The latest series spotlights work from three female artists whose murals deeply reflect the unique spirit and dynamic character of Al Quoz. Drawing inspiration from the area’s vitality, these artistic interventions are turning public spaces into memorable cultural sites, reinforcing Al Quoz’s legacy as a welcoming home to creative professionals and entrepreneurs from diverse backgrounds.
The mural ‘Vibrant Voices of Al Quoz‘ by Egyptian visual artist and muralist Rabab Tantawy is a vibrant celebration of the district’s identity. Her artwork, displayed on the façade of Aramtec, showcases lively scenes of spice stalls, lanterns, and traditional Arabic coffee pots amid architectural accents like arches and domes—all echoing the energetic pulse of Al Quoz.
Meanwhile, Emirati artist Hend Al Murid collaborated with Syrian muralist Dina Saadi for the piece ‘Wonder Windows‘, a large-scale mural on the frontage of the interactive children’s museum WooHoo. The artwork invites visitors on a whimsical journey of discovery, featuring the Hudhud bird (hoopoe), the dalla (local coffee pot), traditional Emirati motifs, and nostalgic childhood memories, all woven together with a spirit of curiosity.
Commenting on the initiative, Shaima Rashid Al Suwaidi, CEO of the Arts, Design & Literature Sector at Dubai Culture, emphasized the enriching impact of the Dubai Public Art Strategy and how it reinforces Dubai’s reputation as a living, breathing cultural gallery.
She said, “The murals are a welcome addition to the Al Quoz Creative Zone, an area known for sparking fresh ideas and giving young talent the space to realise their ambitions. Dubai Culture remains committed to fostering creativity and encouraging artists to capture the spirit of the UAE in their own unique ways. This is part of our broader goal to create a sustainable environment that reinforces Dubai’s position as a leading global destination to live, thrive, and enjoy new experiences.”
Mozah Lootah, Dubai Public Art Project Manager at Dubai Culture, highlighted the originality and diversity that these murals bring to Al Quoz.
She said, “The Dubai Public Art Strategy provides a framework to support and empower local creatives, enabling them to express their perspectives by turning our neighbourhoods, squares, and public spaces into cultural destinations. These artworks foster interactive dialogue between artists and audiences, while also contributing to the growth of tourism in Dubai.”
Through such pioneering projects, Dubai continues to foster a sustainable environment where artists are inspired to capture the spirit of the UAE, and where the broader public can enjoy new experiences against a canvas of ever-evolving creativity.
