Abu Dhabi, 22nd June, 2026 – The Abu Dhabi Festival, under the esteemed patronage of H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, continues to champion intercultural dialogue through its collaboration with the renowned Vienna Philharmonic’s Summer Night Concert. This annual open-air concert, conducted this year by Lorenzo Viotti and featuring the acclaimed baritone Sir Bryn Terfel, showcases the festival’s commitment to fostering global connections through music.

Held at the majestic Schönbrunn Palace Gardens in Vienna, the concert drew a physical audience of 60,000 and reached millions worldwide through broadcast. It proudly stands as the second most-watched annual classical music event, following the famed Vienna Philharmonic’s New Year’s Concert.

The festival’s efforts extend beyond performance to the promotion of cultural diplomacy. In collaboration with the UAE Embassy in Vienna, the “Art @ Embassies” initiative, themed Classical Music as Cultural Diplomacy, organized a panel discussion that delved into how artistic collaboration can serve as a bridge for cultural exchange. The panel featured distinguished contributors such as Michael Bladerer, Yamen Saadi, and Toufic Maatouk, under the moderation of Emirati filmmaker Noor Kanoo.

These discussions revealed personal narratives that interweave Middle Eastern and European musical traditions, spotlighting the role of culture in the contemporary global scene. The panel explored essential themes such as cross-cultural exchange, the celebration of cultural diversity, and the influence of cultural institutions in fostering dialogue.

The insights shared underscored how musicians act as cultural ambassadors, employing music to bridge cultural and geographic divides. Their reflections highlight the enduring relevance of cultural diplomacy efforts in today’s world.

Through the Abu Dhabi Festival Abroad program, the festival amplifies the UAE’s role in the global cultural dialogue, demonstrating the arts’ transformative ability to connect individuals across the globe.
