Oman Radio Achieves Second Place in Prestigious Music Competition
In a significant cultural and artistic milestone, Oman Radio has secured the second prize in the “Song” category at the Arab Music and Singing Competition, hosted by the Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU) in Tunis. This achievement came through their entry, “Mawtan Al Jalal” (“Land of Majesty”), a musical tribute celebrating the essence of Oman.
The winning song features lyrics by Hisham al Saqri, composition and arrangement by Asaad al Raisi, and vocals by Abdulhameed al Kiyoumi. Asaad al Raisi noted that this achievement marks a significant cultural and artistic addition to Oman Radio’s record in the competition.
The competition drew broad participation from Arab broadcasting entities, including both public and private radio stations, with entries from Oman, Kuwait, Jordan, Tunisia, Algeria, Egypt, Yemen, Comoros, and Libya. The event is part of ASBU’s cultural and artistic initiatives aimed at supporting Arab musical and vocal creativity and advancing Arabic musical culture.
This recognition underscores Oman Radio’s commitment to showcasing its rich cultural heritage on a global stage and contributing to the enrichment of Arabic music.
