Dubai Culture and Ministry of Economy Join Forces to Strengthen UAE’s Intellectual Property Ecosystem
Dubai Culture and Arts Authority has entered into a strategic partnership with the Ministry of Economy, marking a significant step forward in fortifying the intellectual property (IP) framework of the United Arab Emirates. This alliance is designed to bolster sustainable development and amplify the influence of the cultural and creative industries by reinforcing the protection and promotion of IP rights across the nation.
Under the newly signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), both organizations are committed to raising public awareness about the critical role that intellectual property plays in driving innovation and creativity. The partnership will see the two entities collaborate on a series of specialized training workshops, seminars, panel discussions, conferences, and forums aimed at educating and engaging stakeholders from diverse sectors. Additionally, the agreement lays the groundwork for joint annual programs and initiatives, the sharing of best practices, and the distribution of publications, briefs, and periodicals to spread knowledge about IP ownership and protection.
Hala Badri, Director General of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, affirmed that the UAE has a dynamic landscape that has attracted entrepreneurs and creatives, positively impacting its economic growth. She said: “At Dubai Culture, we are committed to creating an enabling environment that preserves IP for talent across literary, academic, and artistic fields. In recent years, the UAE has strengthened its legislative and legal frameworks on these protections in various sectors, fueling the advancement of research, fostering a culture of innovation, and encouraging investment in the knowledge economy. This, in turn, has opened up opportunities to attract numerous projects from around the world. Our partnership with the Ministry of Economy reflects a pledge to foster collaborative exchange of insights and expertise among local and federal government entities.”
