Cultural Foundation Hosts New Art Exhibition Showcasing Contemporary Emirati Talent
Abu Dhabi, UAE – The Cultural Foundation, a prominent platform for the arts overseen by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi), has unveiled a new exhibition celebrating contemporary Emirati creativity. The event, which is part of the Foundation’s mission to support and amplify local artistic voices, promises to shine a spotlight on the nation's growing art scene.
The exhibition titled "Bayn: The In-Between" brings together the works of eight Emirati artists, highlighting their explorations of personal, social, and cultural dimensions through a variety of media. The exhibition represents a dynamic blend of multidisciplinary practices, including paintings, installations, photography, ceramics, and digital art. The artists featured in “Bayn” include Afra Al Dhaheri, Aisha Al Hameli, Maitha Abdalla, Salem Al Mansoori, and others, each contributing a unique perspective on the nuances that define identity, memory, and place in modern Emirati society.
One of the key themes of the exhibition is the exploration of the space between binaries – the "in-between" – as a moment of tension and possibility. This reflects the artists’ ongoing dialogue between tradition and modernity, and offers viewers a compelling narrative about the evolving cultural identity of the UAE.
The Director of the Cultural Foundation, Mohammed Al Mubarak, emphasized the importance of such initiatives in nurturing local talent and cultural expression: “This exhibition is a testament to our commitment to fostering homegrown creativity by offering a space for experimentation, collaboration, and critical discourse.”
In addition to the exhibition, the Cultural Foundation will host a series of public programmes, including artist talks, workshops, and guided tours. These accompanying events are designed to engage the wider community and enhance public access to contemporary art.
The Cultural Foundation, located in the historic heart of Abu Dhabi, has long been a central hub for the UAE's artistic and cultural development. Through exhibitions like “Bayn,” it continues to contribute to the growing narrative of Gulf art and supports the next generation of Emirati artists.
The exhibition is now open and will run for several months. Admission is free, inviting residents and visitors alike to experience the depth and diversity of the UAE’s vibrant art scene.
